The University of Southern Queensland runs a number of events throughout the year that are open to our alumni. From the prestigious Alumnus of the Year Awards to informative workshops and industry networking events, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Events are a great way to keep in contact with your former classmates and expand your network connections, while making new friends and having fun at the same time.

Below are the key events for November and December:

19 November – 2018 National 5 Minute Research Pitch – This year USQ will host the National 5 Minute Research Pitch (5RP), where early and mid-career researchers (EMCRs – Levels A, B and C) will compete by presenting their research to a national audience, to win funding for research purposes – Foyer, D Block Auditorium, USQ Springfield.

24 November – 2018 Australia China Alumni Association Awards – This presentation dinner will be held in Beijing and celebrate the success of Australian alumni in China. This year, USQ’s own Heidi Dugan is a finalist for the Women in Leadership category – Beijing, China.

26 – 30 November – Workshop on Nonlinear waves in Oceanography and Beyond – Dedicated to the 80th birthday of Professor Roger Grimshaw, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences, this five-day workshop aims to bring together world-leading experts on nonlinear waves in physical oceanography and beyond – Lecture Theatre R113, USQ Toowoomba.

27 November – Maths Teachers Professional Learning Day – Springfield – An opportunity for school Mathematics Teachers to extend their knowledge, gain a useful insight into how Mathematics is applied in a range of fields and be able to network with peers – B206, USQ Springfield.

27 November – Maths Teachers Professional Learning Day – Toowoomba – An opportunity for school Mathematics Teachers to extend their knowledge, gain a useful insight into how Mathematics is applied in a range of fields and be able to network with peers – G314A/B, USQ Toowoomba.

7 December – MAAC Annual Australian Alumni Gala Dinner – Alumni in Malaysia who studied at Australian universities will be celebrated at the MAAC Annual Australian Alumni Gala Dinner with awards being presented in five categories – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
