The University of Southern Queensland runs a number of events throughout the year that are open to our alumni. From the prestigious Alumnus of the Year Awards to informative workshops and industry networking events, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Events are a great way to keep in contact with your former classmates and expand your network connections, while making new friends and having fun at the same time. Below are the key events for May and June 2018.

 

4 May – Little Village Sessions: Twilight on the Trail – Featuring Jen Mize and Mark Sholtez, Twilight on the Trail explores the music of the great cowboy crooners. Arts Theatre, USQ Toowoomba.

15 May – Workshop: Learn music the easy way with Helen Russel – Using your voice as your instrument, this workshop series of 6 will take you through the inner workings of the music you love. Artsworx, USQ Toowoomba.

17 May – Social Media for Researchers Webinar – Hear from our own Associate Professor Peter McIlveen on how and why to maintain a digital presence. Online, ZOOM.

17-18 May – Domestic and Family Violence Symposium – The theme of this symposium aims to promote a collaborative approach to developing more effective responses to domestic violence. USQ Toowoomba.

18 May – Friday at the Flicks: Out of Africa – Enjoy a comfy seat, a glass of bubbles and the opportunity to enjoy a significant and challenging film from cinematic history. Arts Theatre, USQ Toowoomba.

31 May – 2 June – Cloudstreet – USQ second year students from the acting cohort of the Theatre Major give us a collection of searing, funny, tragic, whimsical and dreamlike metaphors for an Australia in search of its beliefs, direction and identity. Arts Theatre, USQ Toowoomba.

2 June – USQ Malaysian Alumni Gala Dinner – Guests at this event will have the opportunity to meet USQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Geraldine Mackenzie, and celebrate the success and achievements of fellow USQ alumni and new USQ graduates. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

8 June – Classic Album: The Concert in Central Park – 2018’s Classic Album project will see USQ’s music students revisit Simon and Garfunkel’s The Concert in Central Park. Arts Theatre, USQ Toowoomba.

15 June – Friday at the Flicks: Melancholia – Toowoomba’s very own arthouse film night offering a licensed cash bar, made to order cheese boards and a complimentary post show reception – giving you the opportunity to discuss the film while enjoying nibbles. Arts Theatre, USQ Toowoomba.

19-20 June – Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat – Highschool students from TACAPS bring the biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colours to life in this delightful musical parable. Arts Theatre, USQ Toowoomba.

29 June – Guitar Sessions with Anthony Garcia – For one night only at USQ Artsworx, let yourself be transported into the world of solo guitar, through a selection of original compositions from acclaimed recordings Skyflyer and Malili. Arts Theatre, USQ Toowoomba.
