USQ alumna and former staffer, Helen Black (Bachelor of Business, 1994), has been awarded a 2018 Westpac Social Change Fellowship.
Ms Black was one of 10 recipients to be awarded the Fellowship which is awarded to individuals who have the vision and commitment to deliver an initiative that will improve the wellbeing of Australians.

Dellys Kelly –Dellys Kelly, who was made a USQ University Fellow in September 2009, died on March 1 this year. In 1958, Dellys drove to Canberra to rally then Prime Minister Robert Menzies for a higher education institution in Toowoomba. South Burnett Times
Sara Hales (Associate degree of Commerce, 2007): Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport General Manager Sara Hales recently spoke at the Dalby Australian Stock Horse sale ladies morning tea, encouraging women to support one another. Queensland Country Life
Hannah Hyatt (Diploma of Arts, 2014): USQ graduate Hannah Hyatt was recently awarded the title of Young Citizen of the Year at the 2018 Ipswich Australia Day Awards. The Queensland Times
Jacob Oyat (Bachelor of Commerce, 2018): Jacob, who currently works for Toowoomba accounting firm Power Tynan has been nominated for a Queensland Young Achiever Award. The Chronicle
Prof John Grant-Thomson (Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), 1974): USQ Engineering alumnus Professor John Grant-Thomson’s medical invention, The Mansell Infant Retrieval System was recently recognised as a finalist in the Premier of Queensland’s 2017 Export Awards. The Chronicle
Andrew Ruhle (Bachelor of Engineering, 2006): Andrew Ruhle and his wife Ali have been recognised as finalists in the 2018 delicious. Produce Awards for their pastured free-range egg farm, Jalbirri Googums. The Chronicle
Bethina Millers (Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) 2016, Master of Professional Psychology, 2017): USQ graduate Bethina Millers works as a student counsellor at YMCA Vocational School’s Ipswich campus, providing a safe haven for at-risk youths to share their concerns. USQ News
Kelsey Lowe (Current USQ staff) USQ Archaeologist Kelsey Lowe is assisting to find unmarked Aboriginal graves in the outback using ground penetrating radar technologies to identify inconsistencies below the surface. ABC News
Sharron DeCourcy (Bachelor of Commerce, 2018) Warwick mother-of-seven Sharron DeCourcy celebrated finishing her degree at the USQ Graduation ceremonies held recently. The Chronicle
One to watch:
Jessica Suffolk (Bachelor of Nursing, 2018): Jessica started a school-based traineeship through the Health Pathways Alliance at age 15 which led her to complete her Bachelor of Nursing at USQ. She has just started her first full-time position as a Registered Nurse in Ipswich Hospital’s surgical ward. Queensland Times
