Everyone’s career journey is different. Each has its own great accomplishments, failures and of course, countless learnings. It has been found that people may have up to seven career changes across their lifetime. The question is, how do you get there?

At only 24 years old, I am already in my third career change, and for now, I’ve found what I want to do. My journey has not been straight forward. It has been a

lot of work and dedication. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and mentorship of my past supervisors and colleagues who inspired and motivated me to grow and achieve what I have so far.

Part of my current role is coordinating the USQ Industry Mentoring Program. I have also had the opportunity to act as a mentor to others. While at this point, my career journey has only been short, I know I still have great insights, guidance and learnings to share with those moving towards my industry.

The mentoring program is great because it utilises an online platform to connect students with industry professionals, to build networks and readiness for their industry. It allows industry professionals to inspire upcoming professionals by sharing their stories, insights and advice regarding how they too may be successful in their own careers.

The USQ Industry Mentoring Program is now open. I would highly recommend joining as a mentor to share your insights with current USQ students working towards their own career success, or as a mentee, to learn from those who are already working in your intended field. It really is a great opportunity!
