2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of McGregor College at the University of Southern Queensland’s Toowoomba campus.

Opening in 1971, this home away from home was named after former Toowoomba mayor and local tertiary education development influencer, Dr Alex McGregor. Over the past 50 years, the college has played a proud role in the university journey of thousands of students, including countless formal dinners, sporting competitions and providing the platform for lifelong friendships.

Director (Student Life) Peter Munster said event planning is now underway for a major anniversary celebration scheduled for July 2021.

“We would love to hear from past residents of McGregor with any special stories about their time living on campus, and particularly, we’d like to speak with anyone from the original campus class of 1971” Peter said.

“We’re also looking for any classic photos that highlight McGregor Memories, or any old merchandise, memorabilia and magazines.

“A new endowment fund will also be launched to mark the milestone this year to help the next generation of ‘McGregor Goats’.”

Make sure to stay up to date with upcoming anniversary events through the Alumni E-Newsletter and by following USQ social media channels via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
